Life Experience

There are a number of elements in my previous life experience which I believe have some bearing on my work as a counsellor. I’ve spent several years of my life living overseas, which I feel has helped give me a more relativistic and accepting outlook on life, people and cultural difference. Through previous employment, I also have some years’ experience working as a learning facilitator/trainer/coach, so I am aware of the value of, for example, assertiveness skills. Also, I studied history and philosophy of science and medicine at university, meaning I take a philosophical approach to understanding concepts like ‘fact’, ‘evidence’ and indeed ‘mental health’.
